Cumbria Police testing Tesla electric cars

Cumbria Police Roads Policing Unit and Ops Command officers are trialling two Tesla electric cars in a trial fully funded through Tesla that has no impact on public spending. Tesla are also cover all charging costs at no expense to Cumbria Constabulary.

The Tesla cars a Model Y and a Model 3 arrived at the forces Penrith HQ on Monday (22 April) the vehicles will be primarily used by the forces Roads Policing Unit, as part of operational patrols on a trial basis until July.

Tesla, say that it’s  Model Y  has a top speed of 135mph  and a range of up to 331 miles. The Model 3 can reach 125mph with a range of up to 390 miles.

Inspector Jack Stabler of Cumbria Police’s Roads Policing Unit said: “We were pleased to take up the opportunity of trialling the Tesla vehicles between now and July.”
