Police Discover Five Kilograms of Cocaine in Car Stopped Near Junction 40

Cumbria Police have charged a man with possession with intent to supply after a traffic stop on the M6 near junction 40 on Wednesday (16th October) when officers found around five kilograms of cocaine, thought to have street value close to half a million pounds, in the white Volkswagen Golf.

The driver of the vehicle, Anthony Ali, 42, of Fairfield Grove, Bradford has been charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A drug – cocaine.

He is due to appear before South Cumbria Magistrates Court on Friday (18th  October).

The seizure forms part of forms part of Operation Alliance - Cumbria Constabulary’s ongoing response to protect the county against serious and organised crime.
