Resolution Reached in Eden Refuse Collection Dispute

Following months of negotiations between Urbaser, the waste management firm responsible for bin collection in Penrith and Eden area and the GMB union, a resolution has been successfully reached, bringing an end to the industrial action that had caused some disruption to refuse collections in Eden area.

The dispute, which originated over concerns regarding pay, conditions, and weekend rates, saw strike actions in October and November by union members involved in street cleansing teams and property cleaning at council-owned buildings.

In a recent statement, Urbaser confirmed the positive outcome of talks, highlighting the acceptance of a revised pay deal by a majority in a recent ballot held by the workers of Friday.
